what to do after a car accident not your fault

Table of contents ;

1. What is the first thing to do if you get into a car accident.

1. What is the first thing to do if you get into a car accident.

so if you're ever in a car accident the first thing you want to do is make sure you and others are okay . so if it's you in an accident you wanna check for injuries get yourself out of the car away from danger. but if it's someone else you see don't try to move an injured person

2. Call the police and an ambulance

what you want to do is call police and/or the ambulance if necessary. but make sure you report the collision to the police . so they can get on site and start helping you.

3. Take pictures that accident area

if it's your car damaged and you're able to get out and walk around you might want to snap some pictures on your smartphone of the damage in the accident scene. while you wait for police turn on your hazards if they're working on the car try to get out of the way. so you don't get injured by other traffic and again if it's snowy conditions .

4. Exchange information with other drivers

there could be others having the same problem near where you are . if you have road flares or something like that you can set those out then you want to exchange information with the other driver. if the other driver was involved . and again the same advice about if they're injured .

5. Exchange accident insurance information

don't try to move them . but get their name address phone number exchange insurance information you could take a picture on your smartphone. and give that information about yourself to the other driver.

6. You have any witnesses around try to get their information

if you have any witnesses around try to get their information - and then when the police officer comes ask for his business card and the incident ID number. because that's gonna be key to getting the accident report later.

7. Make a note of what happened in accident place

if you are thinking and have time you might want to jot down some basic notes about what happened while it's fresh in your memory. and again you could do that on a notepad or open a note app in your smartphone and take . it down and date it now even

8. Stay calm that accident area

if you think the accident is your fault it's often best to just stay silent at this point . the other driver may or may not have been partially responsible as well. and there's other variables such as road conditions and traffic and other factors .

9. Fault could be used against you.

that will come down to assigning fault in the accident . so an admission of fault that the scene could be used against you. later as a legally binding admission. so it's general in general it's better to just stay quiet at that point . make sure everyone's okay

10. Avoid making a statement of fault to anyone

.Don't blame others. avoid making a statement of fault to anyone . even though your impulse might be to be nice and say something to that effect it's in general it's better to just wait and deal with that later .

11. Give full cooperation to the police

again just avoid making any statements about the fault . who's at fault even. if you think it may be partially your you are to blame . and then just wait for the police to arrive and coperate fully when they get to the accident. you want to stay there at the scene until the police say you can leave.

12. Tell the police of your medical condition

now if you have a medical condition let them know. if you really need to get to the hospital obviously. that's where you need to get going. but if you can stay at the scene. while they collect information for the accident report. that's the best .

13. Tell the facts about the accident.

when you speak to the police only tell them the facts of the accident. you don't need to draw a conclusion to say I think or this or that just tell them what happened in your own words from what you know. the responsibility for the accident is a matter of law in the state and it may or may not be clear right away .

14. You don't need to jump to conclusions or blame.

What was the cause of the accident? So again you have to make sure you are stating the facts as you know them and you don't need to jump to conclusions or assign blame at that point.

 15. See a healthcare provider as soon as possible.

Now that the police have said it's okay for you to leave, you should go to a health care provider as soon as possible. And check. You may not immediately realize the full extent of your injuries. But if you have an accident,

16. Accidental injuries should be recorded immediately

you should go to a health care provider immediately. Because even a minor ache can be a sign of a serious problem. In retrospect, if you have an injury, you should see a doctor as soon as possible so they can see you and put what's going on in your medical records.

17. Accident injuries may be denied by the insurance company

The other thing is that if you wait too long, the insurance company may say that the injury was not caused by the accident, but was caused by something else. So it's a good idea to get checked out by a health care provider as soon as you can after the accident.

18. Delays can make it harder to connect your injuries to the accident.

The longer you wait, the harder it will be to connect your injuries to the accident. Be sure to tell the doctor as soon as you can about the accident and any of your injuries such as dizziness, nausea, memory loss. What you feel after the accident.

19. Keep all medical bills until the case is over

Keep all medical expenses and medical insurance bills with the company until the case is settled.  And pay them and many health care providers will do it if you let them know it was from an injury from a car accident.

20. Collect motor vehicle insurance policy and information from your attorney.

So don't let your lack of cash stop you from at least going and checking after the crash.  As I mentioned earlier, if you have any visible injuries, you should take pictures of your injuries.  You can see and damage your motor vehicle.  Then gather all your motor vehicle insurance policy and information to your attorney.

21. Consult an attorney to fill out any of the insurance forms

Make sure to report the accident to your insurance company.  I recommend speaking with an attorney before filling out any of the insurance forms or providing a recorded statement to the insurance company.  or before meeting with an insurance company representative.

22. Get legal advice before talking to an insurance company.

It is important to get legal advice before talking to an insurance company.  And consult with an experienced personal injury attorney before signing any checks or documents from the company.  Even if your insurance company understands that they haven't contacted you after an accident, they aren't necessarily on your side

23. Be safe on the roads,

So you don't want to act like they're representing you like a lawyer, going to a campus lawyer and being able to get that good advice.  So be safe on the roads, I hope this overview of what to do if you ever get into a car accident is helpful, thanks for visiting.
